5 Things With Anna: Five Must Know Tips To Keep Your Car Running Smoothly In The Winter
This episode of “5 Things With Anna” is for everything that moms need to know to keep their cars running smoothly in the winter season.
1. Check Your Fluids
Fluids such as antifreeze, oil and windshield washer fluid are crucial for your car’s performance during the winter. If you’re like me, I use this a lot during these frosty early mornings, so make sure you top off all the fluids regularly to prevent any issues.
2. Watch Out For Potholes
Don’t forget to inspect your tires and your wheels. Tires are the only point of contact between your car and the roadways, making them a critical aspect to consider in these winter months. So check tire pressure regularly and make sure your tires have enough tread depth for traction on the slippery roadways.
3. Replace Old Windshield Wipers
Old worn out windshield wipers can hinder visibility during snowy or rainy conditions, we’ve all been there. So make sure they aren’t past their prime to ensure clear visibility on the road.
4. Keep A Kit
This can be a kit for any unforeseen circumstances. This can include items such as a flashlight, batteries, water, first aid kit, jumper cables and blankets. One thing I like to do for our family cars is swap out the stash for both kids snacks and backup clothing, so we don’t want to get caught with backup clothing that’s tank tops, shorts and flip flops when it’s sweater weather.
5. Schedule Regular Maintenance
Regular maintenance is key to keeping your car in tip top shape during the winter. Make sure to schedule tune ups and check ups with your mechanic to prevent any major issues.
