5 Things With Anna: Make Valentine’s Day Special For Your Kids
This episode of “5 Things With Anna” focuses on ways to make Valentine’s Day extra special for kids without all of the sugary treats and ultra processed foods.
1. Healthy breakfast
Start the morning with heart shaped wholemeal pancakes with cut up strawberries or heart healthy breakfast parfaits. These are my favorites, so you layer on the love with yogurt, fresh berries and a sprinkle of low sugar granola. This sets a sweet tone for the day without the sugar crash.
2. DIY Valentine’s Day Cards
Grab some construction paper markers, stickers and a dash of creativity. Crafting these cards can be a fun activity and the perfect way for kids to express their affection for friends and family as well.
3. Movie Picnic
Pop in a family friendly love story, spread a blanket out in the living room and nosh on healthy snacks like fruit kabobs and popcorn. It’s a cozy way to create memories.
4. Plan A Family Love Run
Get those little hearts pumping with some exercise that’s disguised as a scavenger hunt for different items and nature. The twist: Find items that start with the letters l, o, v and e.
5. Valentine’s Day Themed Dinner
Perhaps try shaping some casual, healthy sandwiches into hearts or maybe use a drip or two of beetroot for natural food coloring in a sweet cocktail. Have an alcohol and dye free bubbly toast with fizzy water garnished with strawberries.
