It Was Cut Down Day At The Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship
EVANS, GA – On Thursday, the ladies teed it up for the second round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship at Champions Retreat. At the end of the day, the top of the leaderboard looked like it did at the end of round one.
Rose Zhang fired a 66 on Wednesday and found herself in the lead. All she did on Thursday was follow that up with a 65. She sit alone at the top at 13 under par.
Andrea Lignell, who shot 67 on Wednesday, followed that up with a 69 and is 8 under par. That is good enough for second place after two rounds.
Jenny Bae followed up her first round score of 69 with a 68 on Thursday to finish the two rounds at 7 under and all alone in third. Zhang, Lignell and Bae are the only three golfers out of the 72 that had back to back round in the 60s. As for Gianna Clement, the youngest golfer in the field, she shot 69 on Thursday and find herself in the top ten. She is the youngest golfer to ever make the cut.
Now it is off to Augusta National Golf Course where the final round of this championship will be played on Saturday. All 72 ladies will get a chance to play the legendary course in a practice round on Friday.
