North Carolina Youngsters Take Part In The Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals
AUGUSTA, G.A. — On April 2nd, 80 young golfers descended on Augusta National Golf Club to take part in the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals. The kids were divided into 8 groups according to age. The youngest golfer in the competition was 7, while the oldest was 15.
The Drive Competition took place on the driving range. The Chip Competition took place on the putting green. Finally, the Putt Competition took place on the famous 18th green at Augusta National Golf Club. Three kids in the competition were from North Carolina, including Slater Meade from North Wilksboro, NC. who represented his state well in the 12-13 year old boys group.
After the kids were done, a few professionals hit the practice area to get warmed up for the first practice round on Monday.
