Team Penske In Full Indy 500 Mode

CHARLOTTE, NC –  All is quiet at the Brickyard for now, but there is a storm brewing.

“I don’t think you know how big it is until you have been through the process of an Indy 500 month,” says Team Penske Driver Will Power.

“Indianapolis is always in the back of your mind.  If you are in this business, you are here to win the Indy 500.  The championship and all of that is important, every race is important, but it is all a culmination of the Indy 500.  It is where it began, it is why we are here, it is what we do,” said Team Penske President Tim Cindric.

For the past few months, everyone at Penske Racing has been hard at work in the race shop in Charlotte, North Carolina and on the track testing getting ready for the Indy 500, a day like no other in sports.

“You know seeing the people and the people on the grid and you know you are one of the 33 that are racing, it is a pretty cool feeling,” say Scott McLaughlin of Team Penske.

“Walking out from Gasoline Alley on race day, is an atmosphere you have never really felt,” said Power.

Starting May 16, roar of engines return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as official practice starts for the 107th running of the Indy 500.

“The amount of media attention, the amount of people that come everyday to watch practice, qualifying and then you have Carb Day,” said Power.

“It is a special month and it is a big month for all of us,” said McLaughlin.

Everything culminates as a group of drivers look to make history as a 500 winner and bring to an end to months of hard work and preparation.  You can see it all on the CW’s 100 Days to Indy.
